For the past five years, Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. ads were known for featuring hot, scantily dressed women doing “provocative” things with their food. This campaign had none of that. No supermodels. No sexual innuendos. Just some old fashion story-telling about the craft of real biscuit bakers.
When the work aired, sales doubled their expectations. They even decided to not run the supporting coupon promotion. Yes, this campaign was a huge success for Hardee's and Carl's Jr. But it was also a win for the agency, proving that we can do more than write ads featuring women in bikinis.
